2022 World Cup Update (3 Spots Left)

29 clubs have now earned their bids to the 2022 World Cup after the CONCACAF region sent 3 more teams into the dance last night.

We have 3 spots remaining to be filled in qualifying which will complete the 32-team field for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

On June 7, UAE and Australia will square off to play their AFC 4th Round match and the winner will advance to compete in an Intercontinental playoff against Peru. (AFC vs CONMEBOL Playoff)

On June 13las4, two matches will take place to help fill the 32-nation field.

UAE / Australia Vs Peru (AFC vs CONMEBOL)
Costa Rica vs New Zealand (CONCACAF vs OFC)

The Ukraine conflict is now an issue because Ukraine needs to finish qualifying. Scotland and Ukraine are supposed to compete in a match with the winner going on to face Wales in UEFA Path A play. Wales will play the winner of that match and then we will complete the field but we are obviously concerned about not just football in Ukraine but so much more.

Of course, this year marks the first time that we see a tournament past July on the calendar and I know I am excited as all hell to get this shindig going. Security concerns will be a thing, Russian football will not be a thing, and there will be plenty of more things to discuss as the most recognized competition on the globe kicks off the 22nd running of the event.

Where will Ej be covering this World Cup? I do not have the answer to that yet but I am hoping to make this my 5th straight World Cup (Including the 2019 Women’s World Cup) writing for a major site. Of course, I appeared in Beckett’s World Cup Magazine in 2010 and 2014 and I did the 2018 version for World In Sport. I was a featured handicapper and video analyst at Odds market for the 2018 Women’s dance and 2022 will make it #5 in a row for me. I will share who decides to hire me to write previews this time around so stay tuned here at the Pub for that news.

I am writing for a few sites right now and I have been covering the entire NCAA Tournament as well as picking up the NIT and TBC tourneys from the semifinals to the finals of those tourneys too.

Life keeps going and I just keep writing about it! Here is how the groups will shape up when the final draw is made. The pots have already been decided.
